Happy New Year!

It's that time of the year.  As the number on the calendar changes, we reflect back on the year past.  And what a year it has been here at Horse Haven!  The arrival of Sylvester and Tweedy this morning brings the total number of horses we cared for in 2013 to 117.  It's a big number but it only tells part of the story.  117 horses means 117 stories of neglect and subsequent rescue, 117 nickers at feeding time, 117 mouths munching hay and enjoying turnout in our pastures.  It also means 117 Coggins tests drawn, 117 vaccinations and de-wormers administered, 117 farrier appointments.  But all the work and all the expenses are forgotten when we see horses like Sam, much loved by Clare, his person.

Sam was one of 20 horses rescued in a neighboring county 18 months ago. Clare adopted him a little over a year ago. The pair is working on their jumping and trail challenge skills. It's stories like this that keep us going,  month after month, year after year.  And it's your financial support that enables us to help horses in need with much needed care. You make it possible for horses like Sam to find their happy ending.  Your donation of $10, $20 of $50 can make a big difference.

Happy New Year! May it bring many happy endings to the horses at Horse Haven!
