On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me....seven bags of shavings

Did you know that Horse Haven uses shredded paper shavings as bedding in the stalls? Paper shavings are almost dust free and very absorbent. Made from recycled paper, they decompose very quickly and are eco-friendly. Because the stalls in the Horse Haven barn are covered in rubber mats, we only need about one bag of these compressed shavings per stall per week. But even with diligent stall picking by our wonderful volunteers and low cost of $5 per bag, our shavings bill comes to $5000 each year.
